The Consent Note: A Sweet Love Story About Respect
Maya was a quiet girl in school. She liked Arjun, the boy who always smiled at everyone. But Maya wanted to do something different. She wanted him to notice her in a special way.
One day, she wrote a small note on a piece of paper. It said:
“Permission Slip: You may sit with me at lunch today.”
She folded it and placed it on Arjun’s desk before class started.
Arjun opened the note and laughed. “Do I need to sign this?” he asked.
“Yes,” Maya said with a smile. “Only if you agree.”
From that day, Maya started writing more playful permission slips.
- “You may walk home with me after school.”
- “You may borrow my pen for the test.”
- “You may tell me your favorite song.”
Each note was simple, but it made Arjun curious. He liked the way Maya asked before doing anything. It felt respectful, but also fun.
Soon, Arjun began to wait for the next note every morning. He even wrote one back:
“Permission Slip: You may call me your friend.”
Maya laughed when she read it. She realized her idea was working. Arjun was learning that asking before acting was important. It was not only about rules—it was about care.
One afternoon, Arjun gave her a note without words. It was just a drawing of two hands holding each other. Maya looked at him.
“Do I need to sign this too?” she asked.
Arjun nodded.
She signed it with a big heart.
And that was how a simple game of consent notes turned into the start of their sweet story.
